Still something to learn

One week away from my c section!!!

I do kind of like having a 'no later than' date, but it really takes away the optimism of thinking it can happen at any time. It seems to be moving quickly. I cant believe I found out I was pregnant on June 4th. Seems SO SO far away. I've made it through all the weekly milestones...

7 weeks--saw the heartbeat, chance of miscarriage goes way down
9 weeks--heard the heartbeat! Should be safe
13 weeks--second trimester!! The BIG 'safe' zone
14 weeks--found out it was a boy and growing perfectly
20 weeks--anatomy scan was perfect
24 weeks--no longer a miscarriage, officially because save-able if born
28 weeks--Third trimester! Babe has an 85% chance of survival
30 weeks--only 10 weeks to go
34 weeks--sounds so far along, he could be born and might come home with me
36 weeks--9 months pregnant! Ultrasound shows he is head down and NO polyps
37 weeks--the 'old' full term
38.2 weeks--how far along I was when I delivered Alyssa

Tomorrow I will be as pregnant as I have ever been.

I am so ready to be not pregnant right now. I am in pain, my hips and back and pelvis are screaming. Sleeping is getting hard. I envy Alyssa whenever she lays on her tummy to watch TV or play. Every morning when I wake up, the only thing that gets me through the day is that I get to go to bed that night :) I got stretchmark's. I made it through all of Alyssa's pregnancy, gained 30lbs even and NO stretch marks. Here I am now, up only 10lbs and my lower belly has a bunch of purple claw marks. Not super bad, but man, I was counting on not getting any!! My stomach has been cramping everyday for weeks. Period cramps, the feeling of starting the dang bleeding again...everyday..for weeks!! My boobs are ginormous...don't know how I'm going to get milk in these puppies...or how I'm going to walk around with them popped out front as they are.

I don't mean to complain, and if you ask in person Ill normally just say everything is fine...because really, it is. I have super easy pregnancies. I don't need bed rest, I don't have high blood pressure, I don't have gestational diabetes, the kid is in the right position...everything is great. But I needed to document how I feel because honestly, if I want to have another baby I have to remember how much older I will be and how uncomfortable I get. It may not matter once baby fever hits ha-ha...but Ill try.

School

I started classes a couple weeks ago, I'm taking an IS class and a business law class...both instructors are pretty decent and don't care about attendance. I'm able to park super close to my building so no scary walks after class gets out at 10pm. Its kind of nice to have to get dressed and look decent and talk to adults. It might be perfect once the newborn is here...give me some 'me' time.

Alyssa

I cant say she is 100% potty trained but dang she picked it up super fast!! She isn't pooping in the toilet yet but she hasn't had any accidents out and about either. She tells me she needs to go, and we simply go into the nearest potty and she goes! Such a big girl now. I have one box of pull ups in the living room, and I will not be buying any more for her. She only wears them for naps and overnight. But naps have been dry lately so if we can figure out this pooping thing, I may trust her through naps sooner than expected.

Allrighty, its getting close to naptime, and I still need to clean the bathroom. NOTHING gets done after the kid goes down for a nap, that's when I lay my belly down on the couch and relax until Jason gets home and I get dinner ready. Everyday gets me one day closer to meeting my Big Guy. I cant believe that the next post I write will be introducing Parker Cole.

Potty Training

Day 1.

I have been putting off this task for a while. I don't know why it seems so daunting but it just does. We have introduced Alyssa to her potty and she is interested, just not too concerned at all. In diapers she was at the point where she would tell us when she was wet and needed a new diaper, and she was getting dryer and dryer during naps and bedtime...so I knew the time was getting close. I also know the kids tend to regress a bit once a new baby comes...so  I was NOT looking forward to that, but I figure, Id rather her know what she was doing and regress, then to start from scratch. So Tuesday started like normal, I have been super crampy and unmotivated (hello week 36!!) but I noticed Alyssa was following me to the bathroom and wasn't putting up a fight sitting on her potty. Nothing would happen once there but she was keeping the diaper dry. So after a couple hours of dry diaper I just put her in undies and said well...lets see how this goes!! She didn't have a problem sitting, but wouldn't go potty. So eventually she had an accident on the floor. Now I was hoping for a traumatic event to scare her into not doing it again, but oh well, it wasn't. So naptime she kept her diaper dry, and had another accident after dad got home, too excited to keep her contained to the living room and keep an eye on her. Then a poop accident when I was in the bath. Not too bad for the first day!!

Day 2.

Alyssa woke up and I went in to get her pretty quick to try and get her before prime pee time...she went to the potty willingly and was excited to put her undies on, but the diaper was warm so I know I missed her first morning pee. Three times she ran to the potty telling me she had to go...such progress!! She had gone a little bit in her undies but not enough to even make it to her pants. So she noticed she was peeing and knew to get to the potty. Still though, no pee while ON the potty. Once I called my mom and was slightly distracted, she had an accident on the floor, but all in all, she is making good progress :)

After Nap...

She had another dry diaper! How is it my kid gets potty trained backwards? Isn't it suppose to happen as naps and bedtimes are the last thing to pick up?? Not my kid I guess. She had one more accident tonight but it was right in front of the bathroom, while I was taking a bath, so not totally her fault. And she kind of went in the potty. She drizzled a bit, not a full bladder release but enough to see, and enough to make the annoying potty chair sing :) Moving right along!

Day 3.

I had a doctors appointment today, and was planning on spending the day in town at Grammys house before cousin dinner, so I knew it was not going to be a perfect training day, but oh well, we cant win them all!! She had a bit of an accident while I was in the shower, but the trail was heading to the bathroom so I guess that's good...knowing where to go. I put her in a pull-up for our trip into town and at the docs office. My appointment went fine and we headed to Jack in the Box for lunch then to Grammys. After she ate all my lunch she said "Come on Momma, lets go potty" so I pulled down her pants and diaper (which was still dry!!) and set her on the potty and left. She came out saying she went peepee and low and behold...She did!! Lots of good yellow pee in the potty :) She got some pez candy from Grammy and was so proud of herself. I put her on the potty again before nap and she said she went and the TP was wet, but not yellow so I cant be sure she did go...but still, PROGRESS!! Lets see if her naptime remains dry...I kinda doubt it, she hasn't pooped today or yesterday so I feel that's coming at naptime. Oh well. She is doing pretty good by my standards.

Day 4.

Super day!! She told me she had to go, and she did!! Full pee too, not just a drizzle. She was so proud of herself. Jason took her into town while I cleaned out her toys so she was in a diaper but after getting home she kept her diaper dry for naptime and then again told me she had to go, and went in the potty! No accidents on the floor today or yesterday! So exciting :)

Day 5.

So far no accidents. She went in the potty again this morning and we shall see how she does for the rest of the day. We are going into town again for a birthday party so she will be in a pull up but still...she is making such good progress.

New Year

Baby Shower!!

The pictures area  bit out of order but I don't feel like dragging them down to make it perfect. Gotta love the third trimester NO motivation ;)

Baby got some ADORABLE gifts, I'm so excited to see him in things. Mom and dad have been having fun obviously, they got him a little bowing outfit, including his own mini bowling shoes!

Mute the babe!

Diapers!! I wanted to do something a little different than just a diaper shower so I did a diaper raffle, so whoever brought a pack of diapers put their name in for a drawing, Aunt Maureen won!!

Chel and Mal made us a diaper cake and I was so excited, I have wanted one for a while, since they have been becoming more and more common, and more and more adorable!! This is my little snow monster and I don't want to take him apart to get those diapers haha. So cute.

Aunt Joyce made the wee one a quilt and it is perfect!! Love the colors and the chevron and of course BATMAN. I wasn't going for a theme really, I just want to get what's cute and hope it all kinda goes together, but I'm thinking Batman may be the most common player in the baby's life.

Some of the fun loot we got, some amazing receiving blankets that have come super recommended, a few toys, a Mickey Mouse lamp (Alyssa thinks it should go in her room), a Go Pod for the many running events we attend, itsy bitsy Sperry boat shoes, a batman hat and cape, and of course, many many crocheted cocoons!

I have a fear of how big this kids head is gonna be, so I'm worried some of the hats that go with my moms home made cocoons may need some manipulation once the kid gets here. Still trying to figure out how to get the little guy IN these things too haha, like a pillow case??

Mom couldn't leave Alyssa out so she took my extra pink yarn and made some baby cocoons for Alyssa's dolls...she was so excited to unwrap some presents too.

Our little family!! Soon to be four :)

OMG, I know I'm pregnant and have only gained a whole 10lbs so far but I feel like a moose in this picture!!

Love all these ladies in my life! Its so exciting to be able to share such a special life event with them. I know that bringing a baby home is a huge thing for my little family, but its an addition to the bigger family as well. I know this little guy will grow up filled with love from all around him and have tons of support throughout his life, and I honestly couldn't ask for more.

I tried to buy the cake at our usual gluten free bakery but the cake baker and owner of Haven was injured so we had to do our own. I felt comfortable feeding the gals a bakery made gf cake, but not one we had to make, so I went to Raleys and ordered a 'normal' cake. And it was a hit!! So pretty :) And so green haha, everyone had green teeth and lips for the rest of the day...woops! Then Mom and I experimented with a pudding poke cake...I think it turned out great, used a different cake mix and inbetween layers used vanilla pudding...then the icing was just cool whip. I think it may be good enough to try for Alyssa's third birthday party.

School

I start classes again next week! Kinda nervous. But I'm only taking two, and they are both business electives, so not too challenging, and no GPA requirements other than just passing so its not like my more challenging accounting courses. Taking these classes allows me to keep a certain percent of my GiBill money for housing and I don't have to start paying on my financial aid...so its kinda  a win-win. They are evening classes so Jason can watch the kids, and it gives me some alone time, and adult conversation in the crazy newborn phase. Also it frees up my schedule for the final couple semesters, possibly only taking 3 classes each semester, or possibly busting through it and finishing early!

The Baby

I had a normal baby appointment at 34 weeks and Dekay told me I was going to do an ultrasound next time...kinda freaked me out, I didn't know late ultrasounds were that common unless something was wrong...but I shouldn't have been worried. The ultrasound was fun and it was interesting to see how the baby is positioned and to know what body part keeps causing the most discomfort. Dr didn't see any signs of polyps, babe is head down and I would say engaged because there was NO space between his head and my cervix, and he has plenty of fluid around him. Next week starts cervical checks, and Dr days he will do a bit more in depth check for polyps to make sure no surprises happen like with Alyssa. Before we started Dekay asked if we knew what we were having or if he had to keep his mouth shut, we knew obviously so he put the wand on my belly and all we got was a full shot of ball sack haha, he is for sure a boy!! The babys head was so low that we didn't really get a profile shot or face shot, but we got a good ear picture. We may be in trouble!! Also the babe is estimating to be about 6 lbs now. So pretty healthy and measuring perfectly.
